aris is the capital of France. Located in the north, criss-crossed by the Seine. The Paris region (Ile de France) is the main centre of economic activity in France. With 500.8 billion euros (630 billion dollars), produced more than a quarter of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of France in 2006. La Defense is the biggest business district of Europe, houses the head office for nearly half of large French companies, as well as the headquarters of twenty of the 100 largest in the world. Paris also hosts and has hosted many international organizations such as UNESCO, OECD, the International Criminal Court and the Paris Club.
The city is the most popular tourist destination in the world, with more than 30 million foreign visitors per year. It is considered the most beautiful and glamorous city in the world, and also the most famous monuments. There are numerous places of importance and global recognition as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, the Basilica of Sacre Coeur, Invalides, the Pantheon, the Arc de la Defense, Opera Garnier, the Montparnasse among its many attractions, along with world-renowned institutions such as the Louvre, the Orsay Museum and the National Museum of Natural History of France, and popular as the park Disneyland Resort Paris.
This city will have the most modern airport in Europe, upon completion of the remodeling of Charles de Gaulle Airport.
